Over the past two years, I have gained a great deal of confidence from Head Held High lessons. I discovered my own hidden ability to speak in front of audiences and communicate effectively – and I have discovered just how much I enjoy public speaking! I have gained HEAPS of skills that are useful in a wide range of contexts and will help me in the future.

What will my child gain…
from Head Held High lessons?
If you’re reading this as a parent, it’s likely you’re asking yourself a version of the question, “is Head Held High right for my child?” Whatever your version of that question, the answer is almost certainly, “yes”.
How can we be so confident? Well, for a start – it’s in our DNA… we’re a School of Confidence!
We also answer “yes”, because although we use speech and drama lessons as the vehicle to deliver our programme’s mission, we are so much more than just a performing arts school. If we were just a performing arts school, we’d only be relevant to children who are by nature confident, dramatic, and interested in theatrics.
But, because our programme is delivered using hundreds of fun games and imaginative scenarios as the basis of our lessons, we’re able to weave elements of teachings about good manners, conversation skills, body language, respecting ourselves and others, how to relate positively to peers and adults, public speaking, and how to harness and use the power of imagination, all together into a magical programme that all types of children love, and benefit from.
Our team’s mission is growing confident, self-assured, fun loving, and impressive young New Zealanders.

How we deliver excellence
The qualities of our amazing team…
We walk the walk
Our current and past teaching team includes a mix of actors who have featured on Shortland St, Auckward Love, Filthy Rich, Stepdave, Avatar 2, among others, and professional communicators who impress as TVNZ One News presenters, corporate communication trainers and primary and secondary school teachers.
Fun is our common language
If you could be a fly on the wall at our monthly team meetings, you’d be a fly with a sore face, from joining in all the laughing that goes on as we prep lesson plans and coach each other to bring joy to your children, our students, each and every week.
We talk the talk
For some parents, it’s comforting to know degrees, post-grads, certificates and theatrical qualifications are all in the mixture that produces the high quality learning experience for your children. We are very proud of our talented and highly qualified team.
We believe in the higher purpose
We get it – not all children will become actors. Very few even want to. But all children will become adults, who interact with their peers. We believe in equipping them with the right tools to participate in the world as the most confident, positive and well-intentioned adults they can be.
