Here's what some of our client's have to say...
Kate’s enthusiasm and positivity is infectious! Her skills concentrate on the core of your self-belief and confidence which is key to becoming a natural public speaker. Kate’s methods are simple but powerfully effective. She taught me how to present to groups, how to confidently approach job interviews and how to pitch business ideas – all fantastic tools to utilise as I take on new challenges in my life. Thank you Kate for fine tuning the talent I didn’t know I had. Donna Martin, 46 year old Mum and Independent Marketing Consultant
I just wanted to get back to you on how my presentation went last Wednesday. I think it went well. Immediate feedback included - 'very nice meeting' and 'very good presentation'. You will be pleased to know I accepted the compliments with a 'thank you'! I want to say a massive thanks for the course and looking back - the practice for last week's presentation during the last 3 weeks in the course was very helpful. The course has given me strategies to be more confident in public speaking. You have been so positive and encouraging, so thank you Kate. I am very pleased that I signed up for the course. Dr Kristine Ng, Rheumatologist
My recent promotion came with the requirement to present my work at seminars and conferences, the thought of which filled me with absolute dread. Enter Kate and the Head Held High public speaking course to save the day! Though initially reluctant, I was amazed to find I enjoyed it. Kate created a safe, supportive environment for our group with her calm presence and infectious sense of fun making everyone feel at ease. We practised physical and mental techniques to improve our confidence and public speaking, as well as simple but clever speech writing tips which I've been able to apply to everyday life as well as at work. If you're afraid of public speaking - this will help. Dr Nikki Earle, Research Fellow
Today I had my presentation at work – it was amazing! The presentation went very well and smoothly. I was actually looking forward to it - how unbelievable is that??) I wanted to put into practice all skills we learned at your workshops! I was confident, excited and at the same time I was relaxed, so my audience felt warmth and a positive energy. Thanks again for all your tips and tricks, ideas for hooks, guidance on topic structures and feedback! Olga Barikova, Global Operations, Fonterra
Kate Hurst from Head Held High ran a programme for 20 of our teaching staff, to assist them with confident communication in class situations. The participants attended five sessions, and were extremely enthusiastic. They were impressed with Kate’s warmth, energy, knowledge and professionalism. They enjoyed the exercises and found their confidence building each time they went. They found new ways not only of projecting their voices and personalities, but new ways of seeing themselves that gave them confidence and control. Fiona Cottam, Associate Principal, Botany Downs Secondary College
I would highly recommend the adult speaking class for anyone looking to increase their confidence within a professional working environment. The classes are fun, laid back and a great opportunity to practice public speaking within a safe learning environment. Kate is an excellent teacher and makes you feel at home as soon as you walk in the door. Not only is she professional, but fun and supportive with lots of excellent public speaking tips to take back into the real world. I was reluctant to give a public speaking course a go, but am so glad I did and got to work with Kate. Fiona Meldrum, Town Planner
Kate is absolute magic! I am a speech language therapist. I have an adult client, Rich who has aphasia, a communication disorder as result of a stroke. Consequently, Rich has word finding difficulties. As part of his recovery to improving his communication skills, he set a goal of giving a 30-minute presentation at a national conference.
Rich wrote a good speech but it needed more structure and flow. With a few pen strokes, Kate was able to give Rich’s speech the Wow Factor. She injected a powerful and eloquent opening and tied it to a poignant conclusion with a spark of humor. She gave the presentation flow with an inspirational message threaded throughout the speech.
She also immensely helped Rich with the delivery of his speech by introducing improved eye contact, vocal variety, gestures, and facial expressions. Rich went from a monotone, timid speaker who barely looked at his audience to a vibrant, dynamic speaker who engaged with his the audience in only 4 sessions. In fact, Rich won Speech of the Year with this speech at his public speaking club’s annual competition.
It has been an absolute pleasure to work with Kate. Her enthusiasm is infectious and she is an expert in her field! She encouraged Rich every step of the way and as a result, Rich’s public speaking skills and confidence have increased ten-fold. He is excited to give his presentation on the national stage this week to an audience of 130 people. Celia Moore, Speech Language Therapist
